Coconut Monkey grew out of the open mike nights and blues jams hosted by the Martinez Music Society. The band was founded in 1998 and performs all original material. The combination of songwriting styles and influences among the band members leads to a unique blend of Folk, Blues, Rock and Pop. The fact that everyone sings harmony helps give a definite 'Coconut Monkey' sound to the wide variety of styles that come out of these talented singer/songwriter/musicians.
